Executive Board
Conservation districts are subdivisions of state government. Each district is governed by a board of five to seven supervisors. Supervisors are locally elected residents who serve without pay. Five are elected by local citizens, and two are appointed by the local city or county as their representatives.
Supervisors
Supervisors facilitate conversations between landowners and agency personnel, as well as coordinate funding opportunities for local entities in order to promote conservation projects. addressing natural resource concerns within the jurisdictions.
All Supervisors operate based on state laws defined in Chapter 548 of the Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS), and are regulated by Chapter 548 of the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC).
Resources for Supervisors
Supervisors are often invited to educational workshops or forums for natural resources and have opportunities to interact closely with local NRCS personnel in order to provide appropriate technical assistance to landowners or entities.
Associations such as the National Association for Conservation Districts (NACD) and the Nevada Association for Conservation Districts (NvACD) also provide support to Conservation Districts (CD) through training and funding opportunities. For example, NACD provides a Supervisors Handbook to help Supervisors understand their role and responsibilities on the CD.
